Advocacy for Older Adults

The Dallas Area Gerontological Society advocates for policies and programs that benefit senior adults today, and in the future.


Current Actions:

  • Develop position statements regarding the needs of older adults and advocate for improved services.
  • Advocate for Senior-related issues in local, state-wide, and national government.
  • Support the Advocacy Group for Elders (AGE) Council and their legislative priorities.
  • Support the Age Friendly Dallas Initiative passed by the Dallas City Council.
  • Support the Dementia Friendly Dallas Initiative.

Comprehensive Energy Assistance Program

To apply for the Comprehensive Energy Assistance Program (CEAP):

The Senior Source will help those who are 50 and older in Dallas County apply for the Comprehensive Energy Assistance Program to help with electric and gas bills. Please make an appointment by contacting:

For English: Alixious Brown, Client Benefits Enrollment Manager at ABrown@TheSeniorSource.org.

For Spanish: EFSC@TheSeniorSource.org.

Documents Required for *ALL* Household Members when applying for CEAP

  1. Copy of birth certificate or passport
  2. Copy of Picture ID or Driver’s license for all household members 18 years+
  3. Copy of Social Security card or shot record or school record for all household members 17 years or younger
  4. Copies of all household income earned within the last 30 days
  5. SNAP Benefit Letter (if applicable)
